Soccer & exploring in the park

She may have a cute hair do and be wearing a pink dress and tights, but our Lily is one tough little soccer player. :)

What's that?

Big helper, little eater

Tatus worked from home this morning and you were right there helping him:I gave you a snack of cucumbers and here is what you left on your plate:
You make us smile and laugh every day. :) We are so lucky to have you for a daughter.

The things you do

Every day there's something new. You never cease to amaze us, Lily. Sometimes we don't always understand what you are doing or what you are saying, but you are very persistent in wanting to be understood.

One morning you were playing with your blocks and you placed three of them just so on Lukasz's tummy time mat:
We were colouring one day and I asked you to colour the strawberry, and suddenly you were colouring in the lines!!!
You've had enough of sitting in your high chair, so I'm so happy we got one that converts into a booster seat so you can sit up to the table like a big girl and feed yourself. Here, you are chowing down on some DELICIOUS lasagna that Gran made for us:

The climbing continues. With stretches.

Tatus' big helper

This weekend we moved the crib from your room to our room, for Lukasz to sleep in. Having him in a cradle doesn't work too well anymore because you pull down on the side of the cradle to see him when you hear him fussing. Rather than discouraging you from being such an attentive big sister, we decided that, since you are all moved into your new big bed, we should move Lukasz into the crib.

Unfortunately the crib was 1 inch wider than the door frame, so Tatus had to completely disassemble the crib and then put it back together again in our room. You were a big help:

There was only a moment of you wanting to go into your crib. Once it was assembled in our room you pointed at it and said "up. nap." I didn't want you to think it was still your crib, so I wasn't going to let you up in it. Instead I told you that we could nap in your new big bed, and suggested you show it to me. Which you did. :) And you have no problem seeing Lukasz in what used to be your bed.

What an amazing big sister

Lily has amazed me time and again with how good she is with Lukasz. Everytime she sees him she wants to kiss him, whenever she hears him cry, she says "oooh! baby!" in a concerned voice and goes running to where he is. She also loves to hold the bottle while we feed him, and today I caught her reading a story to him!

One of the first times she interacted with him, giving him a high-five:
Plenty of kisses:

Pointing out the baby's "hat":

Helping Tatus feed baby:

This morning, reading Lukasz a story:Oh no! Baby's crying. Trying to comfort her little brother:
This isn't to say that she hasn't had periods of wanting attention when we are busy with Lukasz. She has, and when we can't give her immediate attention, well, she's gotten good at yelling loudly. But I know that at this age she has no real concept of time, and waiting a minute is not something she does well right now. Not to mention she has had a stomach flu, a cold and roseola, one after the other.

But with each day she is more and more patient, and I think she's starting to understand that baby has needs, too.

You'll always be my baby girl, sweetheart. I love you, and I'm so proud to be your mom.

Four at the park

The FOUR of us went for a walk to the park today. You had lots of fun on the swings, the slide, and climbing all over the other equipment while your little brother snoozed away.

Fun with Tatus

When your Uncle Derek and Shane and I were younger, we used to play "horsie". I was always the horse--they'd climb on my back and I'd take them for rides, and sometimes I'd be a bucking bronco and try to throw them off. They liked that one the best. :) I showed you and Tatus how to play that today, and I must say, Tatus makes a pretty good horsie. :)

Lily and lala get a ride:

Thank you, Tatus!

Our little soccer star

It was surprisingly cold today, but we went out to the park anyway to play some soccer. You are great at kicking your little soccer ball around and chasing it down when we kick it across the field. Sometimes you like to pick it up and throw it instead of kicking it. :)

Getting ready for a big kick
Chasing the ball down (see the snow?!)

Another big kick while Tatus shivers nearby.

Fun!

Kicking like a pro.

Napping with Tatus

You often lie across our legs like this--I think its a sort of comfort position for you. This is the first time I've seen you fall asleep like this.

A snowy walk at Gran & Grampa's

Here we are out getting some snowy fresh air on Gran & Grampa's street. All smiles for Tatus :)
You weren't quite sure how to walk through the snow at first...

Happy girl with pink cheeks:

With Tatus in the forest at the end of the street. There's a great toboggan hill there!!
Tatus getting ready to go sledding down the hill.
You didn't like to see him sliding away from you. :(

Christmas at Gran & Grampa's part 2

Photos by your Uncle Derek:

The dinner table, just before we sat down for the big feast.
Opening presents. Uncle Derek set up for the shot, then I dropped the bow on your head and he managed to take the photo before you yanked it of your head. We are sneaky. :)

You got a very fuzzy, very pink heart-shaped pillow, which you promptly kissed and hugged.

Mom got some new slippers--hooray!
So did Tatus!

Here's Gran opening a big present (we got her some nice red vases):

Another book! The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Of course, you had to sit in my lap and have it read to you right away.

Tatus with a bow in his hair. Mmmm... smoked salmon!
Done with the cookie and feeling very cheerful:

Not quite sure what to do with your new (foam) bowling set:
Tatus checking out the new flashing ice cubes he got:
And which you promptly grabbed:

And looking SO cute in your little Scottie dog dress, might I add. :)
