Who was she talking to?
Lily just had a conversation on my cell phone. I'm not sure who she was talking to (or thought she was talking to) but her end of the conversation went something like this:
Yes. Boondoon*. Yes. Boondoon. YES. Boondoon… Pop. Yes. Pop. YES. Yes. Lily. YES! Boondoon… uh… orange.*Balloon

Soccer & exploring in the park
She may have a cute hair do and be wearing a pink dress and tights, but our Lily is one tough little soccer player. :)
What's that?
Lily and Tatus check out a little tree.

Smiley girl
Lately you have been a bit camera shy, tirning away from the camera and saying "no" when I try to take your picture. Today when you woke from your nap, however, you were in a GREAT mood, and I took full advantage of the opportunity.
I love you, sweetie.

I checked on you while you were napping this afternoon, and this is what I saw:
You LOVE being able to look out the window any time you want.

Big helper, little eater
Tatus worked from home this morning and you were right there helping him:
I gave you a snack of cucumbers and here is what you left on your plate:
You make us smile and laugh every day. :) We are so lucky to have you for a daughter.

Bess-ooo
Yesterday Lukasz coughed and Lily ran up to him with a concerned "oooh" and then she said "bess-ooo!" which has to be her version of "bless you".
This morning I was at the computer and I sneezed a couple of times. Almost before I'd finished, Lily piped up with another "bess-ooo!"
Now we REALLY have to watch what we say around her, especially when we stub our toes! :)

The things you do
Every day there's something new. You never cease to amaze us, Lily. Sometimes we don't always understand what you are doing or what you are saying, but you are very persistent in wanting to be understood.
One morning you were playing with your blocks and you placed three of them just so on Lukasz's tummy time mat:
We were colouring one day and I asked you to colour the strawberry, and suddenly you were colouring in the lines!!!
You've had enough of sitting in your high chair, so I'm so happy we got one that converts into a booster seat so you can sit up to the table like a big girl and feed yourself. Here, you are chowing down on some DELICIOUS lasagna that Gran made for us:
The climbing continues. With stretches.

Tatus' big helper
This weekend we moved the crib from your room to our room, for Lukasz to sleep in. Having him in a cradle doesn't work too well anymore because you pull down on the side of the cradle to see him when you hear him fussing. Rather than discouraging you from being such an attentive big sister, we decided that, since you are all moved into your new big bed, we should move Lukasz into the crib.
Unfortunately the crib was 1 inch wider than the door frame, so Tatus had to completely disassemble the crib and then put it back together again in our room. You were a big help:
There was only a moment of you wanting to go into your crib. Once it was assembled in our room you pointed at it and said "up. nap." I didn't want you to think it was still your crib, so I wasn't going to let you up in it. Instead I told you that we could nap in your new big bed, and suggested you show it to me. Which you did. :) And you have no problem seeing Lukasz in what used to be your bed.

Feeding your baby
You are very motherly, both towards your brother and now your dolls, too. This evening you decided to share the remainder of your bottle with your baby:

Comforting your little brother
You wanted to go outside and he needed to eat, so as I ran around like crazy prepping everything, you read to Lukasz and then when he started crying you were right there murmuring to him in a soothing voice:

Letters, numbers, words oh my!
Right now Lily is bringing magnetic numbers to me and asking me what they are. She's learning five and three. She's already able to point out and say eight, and whenever we go out or are reading a book and come across an O, she points it out and tells us what it is.
And her vocabulary is increasing so quickly I can't even keep up with all her new words. She loves to ask what things are and when I tell her she repeats it. Some of the new words she says now are:
on, off, music, dance, phone, nap, bib, thumb, hand, toe, foot, knee, chin, hair, head, (she's known eye, ear & nose for a while)
diaper, pants, socks, shirt, juice, water, fork, spoon, cup, excuse me, bath, colour, sticker, youghurt, Babcia, Dziadek, Gran, (Uncle)
Shane, Madeline, Pepito, bird, tree, bush, run, jump, and, almost & "all done".
When she asks to dance, it's a very specific request--she wants to be lifted up and goes into a waltz-like position, holding onto our free hand's thumb an swinging our arms up and down as we dance.
Lily has also started stringing words together, like "hi baby" and "almost all done" (when we are changing her diaper, which recently she HATES).
"And" comes in handy for her when she wants to know what something is and there is more than one of them. She points to one thing, we name it, she says "and" and points to another. I think she picked up that word from
Hop on Pop. I'm so glad she got interested in books at such a young age.

What an amazing big sister
Lily has amazed me time and again with how good she is with Lukasz. Everytime she sees him she wants to kiss him, whenever she hears him cry, she says "oooh! baby!" in a concerned voice and goes running to where he is. She also loves to hold the bottle while we feed him, and today I caught her reading a story to him!
One of the first times she interacted with him, giving him a high-five:
Plenty of kisses:
Pointing out the baby's "hat":
Helping Tatus feed baby:
This morning, reading Lukasz a story:
Oh no! Baby's crying. Trying to comfort her little brother:
This isn't to say that she hasn't had periods of wanting attention when we are busy with Lukasz. She has, and when we can't give her immediate attention, well, she's gotten good at yelling loudly. But I know that at this age she has no real concept of time, and waiting a minute is not something she does well right now. Not to mention she has had a stomach flu, a cold and roseola, one after the other.
But with each day she is more and more patient, and I think she's starting to understand that baby has needs, too.
You'll always be my baby girl, sweetheart. I love you, and I'm so proud to be your mom.

Snuggly big sister
I can't say enough what a caring, loving big sister you've been. You've never shown anything but love and concern towards him. We are so proud of you!
For anyone wondering, Lukasz has a mohawk-type hair cut because when he was first born they had to put IVs in him, and sometimes they had to put them in his head when his hands and feet got poked too much. I don't feel comfortable taking a razor to his head right now, so we are letting it grow back on it's own.
Besides, Tatus likes having a cute son with a mohawk. :)

Our little music lover
You heard Tatus talking to Uncle Daniel over the computer the other day, and now whenever you see the headphones and speakers you point and say "phone". You like to put the headphones on and then I put some music on for you to hear through them. Cute. :)
